Secur Fire Protection, a division of Fire Safety and Protection, is an integrated building fire systems service provider, providing building life safety systems and services to facilities throughout the greater Ottawa Region and surrounding areas.
We are currently searching for an Inspectors Sales/Estimator to join our company. This position will report directly to the General Manager.
Scope of the Position : The Sales/Estimator is responsible for all aspects of daily operations for projects. General responsibilities include management of contractor sales, cost control on projects, project management, material preparation, work scheduling, project breakdown.
Sales target of $1,000,000.00 in the Ottawa (613) exchange /Gatineau (819) sector and outlining regions per annum.
Prepare annual budgets and review with General Manager.
Submission of written reports covering sales forecasts, competitor activity and products, any potential customer product, service and system needs and economic climate of territory.
Design Fire Alarm Systems including floor plan layouts, battery calculations, voltage drop calculations and typical wiring diagrams in conjunction with Project Manager.
Read and interpret blueprints, block diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, schematics and operational/product manuals for fire alarm systems.
Establish contact with prospects and qualifying potential clients/contractors by scheduling calls, following up on leads and utilizing marketing strategies.
Price and prepare proposal for fire alarm and security systems as well as service and maintenance follow-up.
Develop presentations and meet with potential clients/contractors, engineers.
Manage the equipment ordering and delivery process.
Manage, coordinate and facilitate multiple electronics projects.
Prepare and track job costs to completion.
Coordinate field, corporate and subcontract resources, in conjunction with Service, to solve technical, programming or other problems relating to the commissioning of the systems.
Attend staff, construction and engineering meetings; Verify labor and equipment costs associated with projects.
Generate weekly reports of assigned projects, including current status and manpower.
Perform other related duties, as necessary.
Maintain up-to-date catalogue information for supplier products. Review all technical updates.
Maintain supplier pricing lists.
Attend and participate in general meetings (sales and office). Prepare agenda, post notice and participate in monthly technical meetings.
Prepare project status schedules. Attend job showings.
1. Formal Education
Graduate and/or experience in electronic technology would be an asset.
Canadian Fire Alarm Association Certification.
Understanding of the current fire alarm system technology.
Understanding of the Ontario and National Building, Fire Codes, NFPA codes and all applicable ULC standards.
At least two years CFAA experience or five years in the fire alarm industry demonstrating progressive responsibilities, able to work independently.
Experience in meeting with contractors, authority-having-jurisdiction and end users.
Proficient in reading and understanding architectural, mechanical, electrical blueprints and diagrams, specifications and contracts.
Previous supervisory experience.
Experience in maintaining project documentation, including as-built drawings, change order pricing, RFPs.
3. Key Skills
Proficient computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and AutoCad.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in writing detailed technical reports.
Ability to work with little direction and assume responsibility. Good interpersonal skills.
Good understanding of general construction practices.
This individual interacts with the entire organization.
This person is responsible to follow daily/weekly/monthly routines, based on established procedures and practices, with little guidance.
This person works directly under the General Manager.
