Job Title - Technical Liability Claims Manager Contract - Permanent Salary - Circa £65,000Location - Manchester Region

Industry - Insurance / Claims / Loss Adjusting


To manage and be responsible for all Technical aspects of Liability products and services.

Job scope:

  • Act as a referral point for Branch Managers for larger cases.
  • Undertake on a fee earning basis the handling of large and complex loss cases.

Functional Knowledge:

  • Recognised profile within the UK Liability industry with a strong technical background.
  • Ability to mentor and train less experienced staff in relation to technical issues.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse technical reports.
  • Strong people management experience / background.
  • Ability to provide internal and external feedback.

General Background, Experience & Professional Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of industry.
  • Ability to motivate staff and set objectives.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison with the Directors ad act as a filter for large cases that are referred to them.
  • Supervision of technical output of staff.
  • Approval of technical reports at levels agreed with Board of Directors.
  • Deal with other technical duties as may arise from time to time both in the UK and overseas, i.e. E&O issues.
  • Maintain awareness of Business Continuity programme and role within it.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and/or awareness of FSA procedures and the TCF initiative.
  • Communicate with the team on a regular basis regarding corporate and departmental information and updates.
  • Actively seek to develop oneself and take responsibility for your own training and development.


  • Strong people management experience / background.
  • Excellent technical background and understanding of the market.
  • Flexible approach - the job holder will be required to travel throughout the UK and internationally as and when appropriate.


  • Uses own technical/managerial know how to gain commitment.
  • Builds trust and respect by keeping commitments made.
  • Ensures all activities and decisions improve the service provided for clients.

In addition:

The jobholder will be required to carry out any other function or task that may be expected from them or assigned to them from time to time, within their span of knowledge and ability.
